Tuesday 22nd October 2013 - TARGET MARKET
After looking into careers paths and jobs I could apply to once completed my degree I started to think about my target market. It is really important to make sure your work appeals to market to assure that people will purchase and be attracted to your designs. Having a target market helps you focus your work and have a good idea and aim of what it is your wanting to design/produce.
I feel that although my work and collections could often appeal to a range of customers because of my use of colour and imagery, my designs are usually aimed to appeal to young - middle aged buyers. Customers who like detailed, interesting and dynamic surface pattern with an exploration of colour.
Tuesday 8th October 2013 - DESIGNER MAKER
As a career choice I would not mind being a designer maker/designer. I did not realise all the paperwork to go with it though. today I found out some of the ins and outs of invoicing and pricing your work if you were wanting to sell it. it all seems quite complicated with all the numbers and I am not the best at maths but I am sure its easy to get the hang of once you get going. iv also learnt that copyright it extremely important if you are a designer maker. There are all sorts of agreements and contracts I never knew existed. iv been taking a look and trying to understand a few of them at www.acid.uk.com/generic-agreements.html
